Hand made in the Dominican Republic, this Barrel Aged cigar was described by the seller as “full-bodied”, “smooth” and “earthy”. I suppose I should expect, by now, to distrust all reviews by the seller and simply go by the maxim, expensive = better, for in this case I was sorely disappointed.
Upon lighting this cigar, I had the distinct sensation of burning hair, which lasted throughout the first inch of it. It had a medium to slow draw, which I do not enjoy, and the outer leaf was nothing to brag about. It also was a very “spicy” cigar, which stung the tongue whenever I took a drag. And I do not know if this is just due to the coloring of the band, but I thought I sensed a barbecue chips flavor from time to time as I smoked it (I was sipping rum and hadn’t eaten anything so my palate was clean).
A cheap cigar, but not a pleasant smoke.

The problem with the ABA’s is the aging method, they actually age them in retired whisky barrels. While this sounds like a good idea at first, there is very little consistency between one cigar and the next. It all depends on where in the barrel it was.
