I have a lot of opinions but not a lot of patience to write them all out. So, instead of making a new post for every review (like I have been doing), I’ll instead collect them all on this page and only add short little explanations if I feel like it. Here, then, are my thoughts on cigars, pipe tobacco, movies, books and booze.
Books
- Animal Farm by George Orwell: Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (Didn’t quite have the punch I was looking for, but still a fun, thoughtful book).

- Moby Dick by Herman Melville: Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

- The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway: Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
- The Sea Wolf by Jack London: Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
- The Shack by William P. Young: Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
- The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway: Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
Booze
- Admiral Nelson’s Spiced Rum (70pr): Rating: 3 out of 5 stars (It isn’t horrible but it’s bland, dœsn’t have much of a kick and is rather swill-like. An obvious Captain Morgan’s rip-off in terms of marketing.)
- Captain Morgan’s Private Stock Spiced Rum (80pr): Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars (A nice dark rum — a little harsh for my liking, but a sturdy, all-around good rum).
- Chivas Regal Blended Scotch Whiskey (80pr, 12y/o): Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
- Clan MacGregor Scotch Whiskey (80pr): Rating: 2 out of 5 stars (Harsh, stings the throat. Came in a plastic bottle. Need I say more?)
- Gentleman Jack Tenessee Whiskey (80pr): Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (Sweet, very tasty premium American whiskey. Bought a bottle for the table at Blizzcon 2010, everyone loved it.)
- Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whiskey (80pr, 15y/o): Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
- Grant’s Blended Scotch Whiskey (80pr): Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
- Goslings Black Seal Rum (80pr): Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
- Monarch Rum (151pr): Rating: 1 out of 5 stars (Too strong!)
- Redrum (70pr): Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
- Ron Rio (80pr): Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
- Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum (92pr): Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
- The Dalmore Single Highland Malt Scotch Whiskey (80pr, 12y/o): Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (Probably my favorite scotch, the bottle is cool, has a cork, great packaging — oh yeah, and tasty scotch.)
- The Singleton Single Malt Scotch Whiskey (80pr, 12y/o): Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Cigars
- 5 Vegas Classic: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
- Bahia Blue: Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
- Bahia Trinidad: Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
- Cuban Legacy, K Hansotia & Co.: Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
- Free Cuba: Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
- Drew Estate Egg Maduro: Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
- Gran Habano 3 Siglos: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
- Gurkha Centenary Blend: Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (Uneven burn, but that might have been my fault. Great ash, lovely feel, all-around tasty smoke.)
- Gurkha Grand Envoy: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars (Good ash, uneven burn.)
- Gurkha Legend: Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (Band was too tight, caused me to rip wrapper a tad.)
- Gurkha Legend Silver Edition: Rating: 3 out of 5 stars (Slow draw.)
- Gurkha Regent: Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
- Gurkha Turk: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
- Indian Tabac Cuban Corojo Arrow: [Rating 3.5]
- La Aurora Barrel Aged: Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
- La Aurora Cameroon: Rating: 0 out of 5 stars (Kept 3 months in humidor. Great ash, lasted longer than an inch, very white, medium draw.)
- La Tradicion Perdomo Reserve, Cabinet Series: Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
- Maker’s Mark SIV: Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars (Great packaging as with their whiskey, but the cigar was bland, burned hot, lost its ash quickly and was just mediocre.)
- Nica Libre 1990: Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (One of my favorite cigars. Box-pressed, tasty, smells good, burns well. Only has about half an inch of ash, regularly, but a very fine smoke. Made one of my friends sick, but hey, I’m fine.)
- Oliva Serie ‘G’: Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
- Perdomo Reserve Oscuro: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
- Puros Indios Viejo: Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
- Victor Sinclair Connecticut Yankee: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars (Wrapper peeled when I cut it, ash didn’t hang around long and it seemed to split the cigar slightly as it burned. Other than that, was tasty and fine.)
- Victor Sinclair Legacy Box Press: Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (A new favorite! Tasty, burns slowly and evenly, never had tongue bite.)
- Victor Sinclair Primeros: Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (Good smoke, nothing special. Smoked a little hot, but a very fine little guy. Revised review after smoking a few of these babies. 3 weeks in humidor.)
Movies
- Dinner for Schmucks: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
- The Atonement: Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
- The Hot Chick: Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars (A few laughs, but forgettable.)
- The Other Guys: Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
- The Social Network: Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (Pretty inspiring. Kept my attention, but knowing much of it was fake kinda bummed me out.)
Pipe Tobacco
- Rattray’s Hal o’ the Wynd; Perth, Scotland: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars (Has a prune/raisin flavor. Not bad, but has a really fruity, sweet taste throughout the smoke, which gets old after a while. Much better than cigar shop tobacco though.)
TV
- B.S. Season 7: Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars (The organic foods episode is the only one that was a grand slam.)
- Dr. Who Season 1: Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

- Dr. Who Season 3: Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
